Arches and Moab
For the holiday weekend Kurt’s parents came to visit and we headed down to Arches and Moab. We drove down Saturday morning. When we got there we hiked to Corona Arch, saw the Potash Petroglyphs and some dinosaur tracks. We also visited Arches Visitor Center to plan out what we wanted to do in the park the next day. We then checked into our hotel and did some swimming.
The next day was our big hiking day. We hiked to Delicate Arch and Landscape Arch. Jake was such a trooper. He hiked both and only whined a little. However, he held my hand so I was pulling him a lot. We figured he hike about 8 miles the whole weekend. Josh rode on Kurt’s back in a carrier. He fell asleep coming down from Delicate Arch and rubbed him nose until it had a sore. After the second arch Jake said no more hiking. We spent the next few hours riding to viewpoints and then just looking. We saw Fiery Furnace, Cove of Caves, North and South Window, Elephant Butte, Double Arch, and Balanced Rock. That night we were so tired and went to bed early after a short swim. Jake even put himself in bed which is really unusual for him. We were watching something on TV and he climbed out of our bed without saying anything and walked over to his bed and climbed in.
Before our drive home on Monday, we got in one last easy hike. We did the Park Avenue Trail. There were lots of puddles that Jake had fun jumping over. He said that was his favorite part of the whole trip.
Thanks John and Angie for letting us come with you. We especially loved having a place to stay and sleep!. We had a great time!
