4th of July
We had a great holiday weekend. Kurt got off Friday since the 4th was on Saturday. Friday we got up loaded up the bikes and went down to the Jordan River Parkway. We started in Riverton and ended in Bluffdale. We rode over 4 miles one way. The boys say in the trailer and were so good the whole time. Josh even fell asleep. The parkway is beautiful. The river was so high that the path was washed out in two spots. When we got to Bluffdale, Kurt noticed that his back tire was a little low. We had a pump in our trailer so we stopped to fix it. Well, we ended up letting the air out of the tire. Apparently the new bikes you have to have an attachment to fill it up with a pump. When we tried we just released the air and then could not get it to fill up again. Kurt ended up riding by himself back to the car to drive it and pick us up. The boys and I had a great time sitting in the shade of a tree eating all the snacks. We drove the bike to the shop and told them we couldn’t get it to pump up and that is when we found out about the attachment. I wish they would have told us when we bought the bike so we could finish the ride together. I guess there is always another day.
In the afternoon we blew up our kid pool for the boys to play in. Kurt and I put our feet in with them. Then we had a barbeque later that night and made Peanut Butter Cup ice cream (our favorite)!
On the 4th we meet my parents, Grandma Carol, and the Dastrup family in the canyons to roast hot dogs and have a picnic. Jake loved making his own hot dog and finding sticks for the fire. Josh just wanted to get down and crawl. I wouldn’t let him so he was not a fan of our time in the mountains.
Later that night we ended up at my parents and did the fireworks that I bought. Jake loved doing the sparklers and snaps. He wanted to do more but we had to move on to the other fireworks. He wanted so much to help Kurt light them but I wouldn’t let him leave the blanket on the grass. Jake said his favorite ones were the ones that he got to do himself! Josh was not a fan of the fireworks either. He jumped every time there was one that was really noisy. We did get to see some big ones in the sky on our drive back home. Pictures to the right.
