Halloween Activities
Jake has been so excited this year to celebrate Halloween. Here is some of the fun things we have done to celebrate. There are pictures to the left on our flickr account of the things we have done.
Scarecrows and Ghosts- Kurt saw in a magazine how to make some lawn ghosts and was really excited to do them. Jake loved helping color in the eyes and mouth. We have only had one bad wind storm so far where we have had to run outside and bring them in before they blew away. Then I had a scarecrow post in the basement that we got 3 years ago and just never got around to making the scarecrow part. Jake insisted that we make one. With grandma Camille’s help we finally got it put together this year.
Scarecrow Festival- We went with some friends during the day to the Scarecrow Festival. Jake got a ticket from school to get in free. He had lots of fun playing the games and more fun playing in the big blow up mazes and bounces houses. They even had a little Junior Haunted House that he enjoyed. We waited for an hour to ride the train that Josh loved.
Pumpkin Patch- Jake has been asking us almost everyday when we are going to the pumpkin patch and when is it time to carve the pumpkins. We took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch and picked out two good pumpkins to carve just before Halloween. Josh loved playing the hay at the patch. We couldn’t get him to look at a pumpkin. Jake kept saying that we needed more pumpkins. But two is plenty for us to carve.
Witches Breakfast- I got tickets back in September to eat breakfast with the witches at Gardner Village. This was so much fun. The witches walked around to the tables and chatted with us while we were eating some yummy food. They also did an interactive show with the kids. Jake got a squeaky rat and got to go up on stage and be a part of a rat choir. He didn’t want to give his squeaky rat back to the witches. We also walked around Gardner Village to see all the witch displays.
Herriman’s Pumpkin Festival- We also went to this event that Herriman does every year. The boys got to get dressed up. Jake made sure that we did all the games and activities. He got lots of prizes. Josh even played a few of the games. Jake went up on stage for the chicken dance and was so cute. I wish I had my video recorder.
