I have been taking pictures to document the process and for anyone that is interested in seeing them. They are on our blog. We have and hole and the footings are done. We have picked out everything except for paint colors and granite. It was a long day to get everything picked out. We agreed on everything except the backsplash. The only place we had to go to a second time was the tile to look at other backsplash options and pick one that we both liked. I think it helped that we have been making lists and looking at lots of houses for two years so we knew what we wanted. It is going to go fast now that things are started.

We had a fun Family Pumpkin Day. We went to the Pumpkin Patch and picked out our pumpkins. Jake wanted a big one with a cool stem and Josh said he wanted a small one. They both picked out exactly what they wanted and we put them in the wheel barrow. There were some goats there that they boys wanted to pet too.
Then we went to Herriman’s Pumpkin Festival. It was the most busy it has ever been since we started going 5 years ago. It is the first time we had to wait in long lines to play the games. The highlights were getting to wear our costumes, the bouncy slides, and the train ride. It still is fun to go to.

While Jake was off track I signed him up for swim lessons at our rec center. He improved so much. His teacher had him doing all kinds of strokes, floats, dives, and jumps. Jake jumped off the medium diving board which he was so nervous to do the first time and then he didn’t want to stop. After lessons we would stay for open swim. Josh got so brave going down the slides by himself. I love that both my boys love the water. They both were sad when it was time to go home.

While Jake was off track we took a morning and went to Tracy Aviary. The boys had so much fun looking at all the birds. They would run from one exhibit to the next. Jake really liked the new owl exhibit and his favorite was the Snowy Owl because it is in Harry Potter. They had an owl in the show too that kept flying around the building that Jake thought was cool. Josh said his favorite was the pink one which was the flamingos. He would then stand on one leg like the birds did.

We got to take Jake to see Mary Poppins at the Capitol Theatre. It was so good. Jake loved the part where Burt dances up the side walls and then upside down on the ceiling during the song Step in Time. The play is a little different than the movie. But the singers were amazing. I was amazed that the two little kids could keep up with the adults singing and dancing. I am so glad that we can provide these experiences in the arts for the kids.
