This is the Place Field Trip

I got to go with Jake’s class on their field trip to This Is the Place. It has changed so much since I had last been there 6 years ago. I was worried that there wasn’t going to be much for Kindergarteners to do. But they had a great time. We got to go to the barn and petting zoo to learn about the animals, the gardenia to do some farm chores, and a house to learn about knitting and how to make the yarn. Jake loved riding the bus up there and had a great time with his two buddies in our group.

Jake soccer game

Our soccer season has come to an end. Jake actually got in and kicked the ball a few times. He has grown so much since starting last year. But, soccer is not his favorite thing so we are going to take a year off and then see if he want to do it again. He loves his medal and wore it proudly all day. Kurt did an excellent job coaching again. There are a few pictures and video of his last game to the right of our blog (Jake is #5).

Dinosaur Park and Bike Riding

We had a great Memorial Weekend and did some really fun family things. Monday morning we headed up to Ogden to go to the Eccles Dinosaur Park. The boys loved it. Josh walked around growling at all the dinosaurs. He was so excited that he would not sit in his stroller. Jake was anxious to move on to see what the next dinosaur would be. They especially liked the indoor robotic dinosaurs and we watched it for a long time. They had fun excavating bones in the sand and playing on the playground.

Jake also learned to ride his bike by himself. It was one of the goals that he set for himself to accomplish this year. We have been working on it the last couple of days and even tried last summer. He has been so nervous to do it all by himself in fear of falling and hurting himself. He finally just took off with it. He kept yelling as he was riding “This is so much fun!”. We are so proud of him! Pictures and video to the right of the blog. There is also some video of Josh pointing to his face parts and saying some words. We are also proud of him and the many things he is learning right now.

Jake’s 6th Birthday

Jake wanted a Toy Story birthday this year since he is so excited to see Toy Story 3. On his birthday he picked out donuts for breakfast. He is off track so we had a fun day playing and going to the park for a few hours. We had our family party that night. He got some Toy Story Legos, Lego head lamp, treats, Bionicles, Lego magnetic book, and lots of cards. I had a hard time thinking what to do for his cake that was Toy Story. He wanted all the characters and not just Woody or Buzz. We made Andy’s bed and put all the little toy characters on the bed and on the floor. The next day we had our friend party. Again, we stuck with the Toy Story theme. We had Toy Story coloring, 5 different Toy Story games that were really fun with Toy Story prizes, and Toy Story Cupcakes. His friends brought him some fun toys to play with. He had a great birthday! Pictures and video to the right. There are more pictures than what is shown here so click on one to go to our flickr page.
