Kurt’s Birthday

Kurt is another year older. We celebrated by going to the place he picks every year for his birthday- Market Street Grill for dinner. Then we enjoyed the rest of the evening at home. Kurt’s parents were here visiting so they got to join in on the fun. Kurt got a snow cone machine from the boys, a shop vac from me, and a camp stove from his parents. Jake was so excited to celebrate Kurt’s birthday and even wrote a little note all by himself about how much he loved him. For his cake he choose lemon bundt cake. Happy Birthday Kurt!

Job Change

I just realized that I never wrote about Kurt’s recent job change. His last company ran out of money and did not pay their employees for a while. They told them not to come in until they had some money, hoping it would be soon. Kurt was so lucky because for those weeks he was home he had two people call with some side work. He hasn’t had side work in a long time so we knew this was a blessing right away. He worked on that hoping that money would come in so he could go back to his job. As those few days turned into a few weeks with no income Kurt began interviewing, was offered, and accepted a job with MediaForge. It is another small company and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this one will take off or at least be stable for a while. Being in a situation like this we have learned of the things that we can do with out and the blessings that we do have. We were lucky to have food storage to live on and a savings that could pay our bills. It has been tough on us but we had faith that something would work out. Now we just need to save back up and restock.

Garden Time

That time of the year has finally come. Even though we have had lots of snow lately, I am anxious to get my garden started. Last year was our first year gardening. We had just a little bit of success. This year I am following a website http://www.mysquarefootgarden.net. Hopefully we can have more success. I have the first box planted and am waiting for some warmer weather to plant the second box. Jake and josh both loved helping rake in the new soil. And Jake was really excited to help me plant. Now we just need some sun to make the plants grow!

Easter

We spent most of Easter with lots of family. We started off dying Easter eggs with my mom on one of our Spring Break Days. On Easter Morning we stayed home. The boys went out to see what was in their baskets. They got lots of candy, new shorts and shirt (not able to wear them because the weather is so cold), bubbles, kickboards, and a couple of DVD’s. After we did baskets we read the story of Christ’s resurrection. We then spent the rest of the morning watching General Conference. In the afternoon we gathered with family at my grandma’s house for her annual Easter Egg Hunt. Jake loved finding eggs and even Josh was excited when he found one with help from his dad. The rest of the afternoon was spent eating and visiting with our family.

Leprechaun Visit

The leprechaun made a visit to our house. We used the trap that we made last year and we still didn’t catch him. But he did leave us some gold treats and Lucky Charms with green milk. Maybe next year we will get him and all his gold! We didn’t do much else to celebrate. We did have Blarney burgers with Potaddies and Irish Soda bread for dinner and Rainbow cupcakes for dessert. And of course we all wore green.
